Most cities around the world have rocking New Year’s Eve celebrations. However, some cities take the celebrations to the next level and offer dazzling fireworks, epic crowds, and fabulous parties. If you want to experience a party of a lifetime, check out any of these four cities on New Year’s Eve.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
There is no better place to spend New Year’s Eve than on Copacabana?the most famous beach in Brazil. Giant stages are set up along the shore, and party-goers can dance the night away to traditional Brazilian music. More than 2 million people descend on Copacabana on New Year’s Eve, and when the clock strikes midnight, colorful fireworks explode over the ocean.
New York City, the United States Times Square, in New York City, is synonymous with New Year’s Eve. Millions of people from around the world cram into this square to watch the famous ball drop. In addition, visitors are treated to light shows, fireworks, and raining confetti at midnight.
Sydney, Australia Sydney is known as the “New Year’s Eve Capital of the World.” The city offers the world’s largest fireworks display?seven tons of fireworks explode into the night sky over Sydney Harbor Bridge when the clock strikes midnight. Visitors can also expect traditional ceremonies and an impressive light parade.
London, England Every New Year’s Eve, fireworks are launched from the London Eye, a giant Ferris wheel on the Thames River. There are also light shows at the iconic Trafalgar and Parliament squares. |
