Once upon a time, there was a young shepherd boy named David. David was the youngest of eight sons of Jesse. The family lived in Bethlehem, a few miles south of Jerusalem. David was a very good boy who helped his father tend flocks of sheep.

He did this by shooting rocks with his sling, which was very much like the slingshots young boys play with today. Maybe helping and taking care of others is the will of God.
One night, when David was alone in the field, his father came to speak with him. He worried too much about his sons. His father asked David to visit them with some food. David was very happy. He also had not seen his brothers in almost a year, since they had joined the army to fight for King Saul.

Early the next morning he set off, carrying food for his brothers. Most young boys would have been afraid to travel alone, but David was brave enough. He took along his trusty sling for safety. David had walked many miles when he decided to rest, and have something to eat. Another traveler, an old man, came along the road and sat down beside him. The old man asked David where he was going. David explained what he was doing. Then the old man told David about Goliath, a giant of a man. Nobody in Saul's camp dare to fight that giant Philistine. On hearing that, David decided to go there in a hurry, ignoring the old man's advice.

He was already running down the road. David ran for hours and hours, and at last he arrived at his brothers¡? camp. One of his brothers, Ilia, saw David coming and ran to greet him. David hugged him for a moment and asked what¡?s going on here. He asked what made cowards of them all. His brother took David to the cliff where he could see the giant, Goliath. As soon as David saw him, he asked his brother to take him to king Saul.......

Dialog 1
Father: Hello David. How are you today?
David: Hello father. Is there any word of my brothers? I¡¯m dying to see them.
Father: Yes, that is what I came to tell you. I know that you miss them a lot, so tomorrow I want you to go visit them, and take them some food. I want you to find out if they are doing well.
Dialog 2
Old Man: Where are you going, boy?
David: To see my brothers. They are fighting for King Saul, and I have been sent by my father to take them some food.
Old Man: If they are in King Saul¡¯s army, they are not fighting at all.
David: Why do you say that?
Old Man: Because it is the Philistines they must do battle with. The Philistines have a giant of a man, their champion, named Goliath. He is over nine feet tall! Every day at sunrise and sunset, he challenges Saul's men to fight with him, and every day no one appears. Saul's men are afraid to fight the giant Philistine.
David: If that is true, then I must hurry to join my brothers.
Old Man: There is nothing YOU can do, a shepherd boy against a giant. Go home to your sheep, where you will be safe.
